Elliot Evolution

So the other day I decided I wanted a new ref sheet for Elliot. After completing the lineart, I wasn't happy with it. What I finished was the completed lineart you see above (middle). I realized I draw Elliot too cartoony. For a person-turned-dragon who's supposed to scare the hell out of anyone who sees him, he wasn't very scary. In fact, in his current ref sheet (left of the image) he looks like a sweet little pouty baby.

It was time to fix Elliot's unintended cuteness.

So I took to the greatest reference I could for drawing fantasy reptilians- dinosaur documentaries. Now i'm a sucker for my dinosaur/pretty much any nature documentaries so I spent quite a while looking at overall proportions, body shapes, skin textures, etc. etc. until finally I was confident to take on Elliot's new ref. Right now I have just begun lining it, as shown above (largest drawing). Now only my lack of skill will hold me back. ;v;

(will be scrapped when I post up the completed sheet I guess?)
